Happy 4th of July to all of my American friends! For me, the 4th of July has never been my favorite holiday because I'm always out of town at our family reunion and I never get to enjoy fireworks or festivities with my friends. Last year one of my friends had a cookout and I had a great time, but this year all of my friends are out of town this week (just my luck)! I think the plan for today is to finally see Cars 3 and have fun with my immediate family and hopefully make a fun dessert (I'm a sucker for those American flag pies)!
On to the point of this post, when I was a kid my mom used to but me in those Faded Glory overalls from Old Navy (typical) so I've grown up wearing patriotic colors on the 4th. This year I was looking in my closet and when I realized I had so many denim pieces I wondered what's more American than denim? I'm featuring my favorite denim (looking pieces) for three different occasions! Plus, if you have a denim tank top (like this one I've been eyeing from Anthropologie) I think it would go really well with white skinny jeans!
The first look is the dressiest! I think it would be super cute if you're spending your day on a boat or going to a larger scale "event" where there may be some people you don't know. I also think it's fun if you don't have any serious plans but you may be out and about!
The second look is the easiest to move in! I love it for family cookouts where you may be playing with younger kids, or even going to the pool with friends. It's the easiest to wear with a swim suit and allows for the most mobility!
The third look is probably the one that I'll be wearing and definitely the most casual! It's great if you plan to be inside baking or going out to see the fireworks in the afternoon. All of these outfits are super easy to customize and add some red too if you want something more festive! If you recreate any of them make sure to take pictures and tag me on instagram (@misslaurenalston)!
